The advantages of organic and chemical fertilizers to the coffee plant
AGRICULTURE- Fertilization primary objective is to provide nutrients to the plant. coffee plants require nutrients from the soil for vegetative growth (leaves, roots and stems) and generative growth (flower and fruit). Vegetative growth is as important as generative growth, since the fruit is only formed on the lateral branches which is a product of vegetative growth.
the benefits of fertilization on coffee plants:

  • improvement of the condition of the plants (plants fertilized optimally and regularly will have a greater resistance to extreme conditions such as lack of water, high temperatures or luxuriance of fruit).
  • increase production and quality (coffee beans are larger and higher yield).
  • the stability of production (coffee plants are biennial bearing, meaning that high harvest in a year will be followed by low yields there next year. optimal fertilization can reduce the trait.

The types of fertilizer
organic fertilizer.
advantages / advantages of organic fertilizers:

  • material available in the coffee plantation
  • no residual effects (toxic effects)
  • can improve the physical condition of the soil (solid becomes friable)
  • Touch ups can soil biology (there are worms and others)
  • besides containing macro nutrients also contain micro nutrients.
  • increase water holding capacity.
  • increases the cation exchange capacity.

weakness organic fertilizer.

  • nutrient composition is low.
  • needed in greater numbers
  • difficult to determine the exact amount of fertilizer, in accordance with the needs of the plant.

Organic fertilizer raw materials may be; coffee fruit leather, parchment skin, manure, plant litter, banana stems and grass.

Chemical fertilizers.
Excess / chemical fertilizers advantages:

  • Nutrient composition higher
  • faster nutrients available to plants.
  • Easily determine the amount of fertilizer required

weakness chemical fertilizers:

  • Toxic effects (residual)
  • Excessive doses and without calculation can damage the environment.
  • generally no or little contain micro elements.
