AGRICULTURE- The formation of flowers on the coffee crop was influenced by the periodicity of the light , the light intensity and air tempratur , perodisitas light is a light period or periods of light striking the coffee plant , while the size of the light intensity is light diteima by coffee plants
1. perodisitas Light
coffee plants belonging to the short-day plants, the plants were only able to form interest in a period of long days (Short day plant). that is to say, the coffee plant only flowers in the form of short-day period, ie during the day length is less than 12 hours. most of the coffee crop in Indonesia is located in the south of the equator, such as southern Sumatra, Java, South Sulawesi, Bali and Nusa Tenggara. This region of the short day period runs from 12 March until 23 September and in short day falls on June 21. territory north of the equator such as northern Sumatra and Aceh short period of irradiation days starting on Sept. 23 until March 21 next year.
short day took place on 21 December. based far short day flowering period of coffee in the south and north of the equator does not last the same as opposite. when the flower primordia formation is not easily seen by the eye but with a microscope, but the difference is noticeable when it appears larger flowers or fruit when harvested coffee which is about one year after the formation of floral primordia.
2. Light Intensity
Generally dark garden coffee plantations that produce coffee cherries number fewer than lighter coffee plantations . this is caused by the formation of interest will be blocked in the intensity of light is too small due to shade too dark . otherwise the light intensity is too great at the plant will experience symptoms of heaviness fruit ( overbearing , Overdracht ) which would be detrimental to plant growth mainly Arabica coffee .
wet monsoon climate area evenly throughout the year and often cloudy . The intensity of sunlight is low so that the flowering coffee plants are generally less than the area which has a dry climate emphatically this is caused by the influence of intraksi between periodicity and intensity of light on the process of formation of floral primordia coffee .
3. Air tempratur
Amplitude air tempratur tempratur ie the difference between maximum (day ) and minimum ( night ) in a day and night that can stimulate the formation of flower primordia , the greater the differences between day and night tempratur the greater the stimulation experienced by coffee plants to form a floral primordia .
tempratur unisex combination between day and night is more efektik in stimulating the formation of floral primordia . Arabica coffee growing need tempratur Optimum Darajat 23 Celsius in the day and 17 derajt Celsius at night . for the formation of flower primordia tempratur optimum 30 degrees Celsius during the day and 23 degrees Celsius at night . tempratur if daylight falls below 17 degrees Celsius and tempratur night fell below 12 Celsius derajt practically stalled the formation of floral primordia
